I’m Justin.
I am running for the 36th Legislature of the US Virgin Islands representing St. Croix August 3, 2024 for the Democratic Primary.
Who am I?
My name is Justin Curtis Smith and I have proudly called this island home for the past 14 years. I am running for Senate as part of the 36th Legislature of the US Virgin Islands focusing on three main priorities: Youth Education-Fitness-Sports Tourism.
My Journey
Community Involvement: I started by volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in downtown Christiansted and went on to teach at AZ Academy for five years, covering subjects from Math to Music and Physical Education while also being a Summer Camp Instructor at BIAC.
Post-Hurricane Maria: I became head coach at 340 CrossFit and founded Lion Haven (www.lionhaven.org), where I serve as Executive and Program Director, focusing on youth development and community engagement.
Personal Background: Originally from Indiana where I received my degree in Accounting from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, I am an army brat, a Super Bowl champion, and a four-year NFL veteran, bringing a unique perspective and dedication to serving St. Croix.

At the heart of my campaign is a commitment to Youth Education, Enrichment, and Empowerment. I believe in providing our young people with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed academically and personally. By enhancing educational programs, offering mentorship, and creating enriching afterschool activities, we can empower our youth to achieve their full potential and become the future leaders of St. Croix. Together, we can build a brighter, more educated future for our community.
Fitness
Health Wellness
Promoting Fitness, Health, and Wellness is a key priority in my campaign. I believe that a healthy community is a thriving community. My goal is to make fitness accessible and enjoyable for everyone on St. Croix. This includes expanding community fitness programs, improving access to health and wellness resources, and promoting physical activities that cater to all ages and abilities. Together, we can build a healthier and more vibrant future for our island.
Sports Tourism
Sports Tourism is a vital part of my campaign to boost St. Croix’s economy and community spirit. By promoting and developing sports events, tournaments, and recreational activities, we can attract visitors, stimulate local businesses, and showcase our island’s unique culture and hospitality. My goal is to establish St. Croix as a premier destination for sports tourism, benefiting both our residents and our economy. Together, we can create a vibrant sports tourism industry that brings people together and highlights the best of what our island has to offer.
